Country Players is a small, amateur theatre group situated in the village of Wakefield, in New Zealand.

2005 is our 50th anniversary. Every year since 1955  (except for a few years after 1968, when our local hall burned down) we have produced 2, 3, or even 4 shows a year.

And for most of this time we have run a junior theatre group. Two of our past juniors have been awarded scholarships with the Globe Theatre.

Our group is distinctive in that with our small membership, we have to learn to turn our hand to a wide range of skills. (Act in  one play, direct the next, sound production, stage managing and so it goes on.

And socially, we have had some durn good times.
